Do you know a Pig who has earned his or her snout? Yes, it stinks but now it’s time to snout him or her on the Pig Board. Without a shadow of a snout, you’ll be pigsty-ling!
This can be done with one or more players. It’s time to ham it up! Guests get together and some, if not all, bring a picture of a Pig who has earned a snout. Don’t have a photo? Just sketch the Pig’s face on a piece of paper.(Taking a Pig photo knowing it’s destined for the Pig Board is half the fun)
Guests are requested to wear pig themed attire. e.g. Girls can wear pink and pigtails. Guys can wear brown to represent mud. (Guests may also speak in Pig Latin, do mud packs and the jig.) Before beginning, make sure everyone has oink d’oeuvres and their favorite pig drink. (See Party Prep)
*Note: Friends don’t let friends drink and drive, so please provide piggyback rides home.
Let the pig roast begin! Someone starts by giving a brief description of how the Pig earned his or her snout, then places the pig photo on the Pig Board in one hand and holds a snout peg in the other hand. The rest of the group counts down 5-4-3-2-1, then oinks, squeals and grunts like a pig. (Some players like to shout “Snout that Pig!” and continue oinking as the snouting commences.) The snouter neatly pushes the snout peg through the Pig’s nose on the picture. Voila! A perfectly snouted Pig!
You may also decorate your pig with enclosed captions; e.g. “I’m a Jerk”, “I’m a Liar”, “I’m a Cheater” or create your own. Everyone cheers and is curious about the next Pig to be snouted. Continue until all Pigs are snouted on the Pig Board. Any way you play it, it’s always a stinkin’ gas and not a boar.
After all the Pigs have been snouted, it’s time to pig out. Slop (dinner) is served after the snouting, preferably in little pig troughs.
Soon you’ll be livin’ high on the hog! Once a Pig has been snouted, he or she is not removed from the Pig Board. Unless of course, he or she becomes an even bigger Pig and needs to be represented by the part of the pig that’s closer to the tail.
Snouting parties continue until the Pig Board is full. Once full, a Blue Ribbon is awarded to the biggest Pig. In the meantime, you might want to keep the Pig Board in a discrete place just in case a Pig wanders into the pig pen.
Happy snouting and go hog wild!
